TCU Fans Cheer to the End of a Magical Season

The Horned Frogs started their incredible 2022 football season unranked with a new head coach and 200-to-1 odds that they would make it to the national title game.

After going 12-0 during the regular season, winning the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and becoming the first Texas team to make it to the CFP National Championship, the Frogs fought hard but came up short in the big game against the top-ranked Georgia Bulldogs.

Though the CFP National Championship game outcome wasn’t what anyone hoped, Horned Frog fans showed up to support the team in California and at home, proving that we will always bleed purple.

A Royal Send-Off

As the team departed for Los Angeles, hundreds of TCU faculty, staff, students, neighbors, community members and media gathered along the north side of campus to see them off with cheers.

Thousands of Frog fans arrived in Southern California to rainy weather, but it didn't dampen the mood at pre-game events, like the Riff Ram pep rally on Santa Monica Pier — where Mayor Mattie Parker presented an official "Go Frogs!" proclamation from the City of Fort Worth.

Painting the Town Purple

TCU signage and support permeated Greater Los Angeles, including LAX and other major airports, the Los Angeles Convention Center, and tourist destinations like the Wilshire Grand Center and L.A. Live.

On game day, just steps away from SoFi Stadium, many fans celebrated before kickoff at TCU's sold-out tailgate hosted by the TCU Alumni Association.

For the Love of The Game

Thousands of TCU fans packed SoFi Stadium in purple to watch the Horned Frogs take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

The team proved it was no small feat to make it this far. TCU was the first in Texas and the first from the Big 12 Conference to make the CFP National Championship and just the third since 1998 to play in a national title game after being unranked in the preseason.

Back Home

The day after the game, the Frog faithful rallied to welcome the team back to campus. Fans of all ages lined the sidewalks around Amon G. Carter Stadium with signs, flags and smiles, showing that no matter what, they are Frogs forever.
