TCU Traditions Make Graduation Extra Special

Before graduating seniors transition from college to post-grad life, they enjoy several cherished Horned Frog traditions to commemorate their four years on campus and send them off in style.

From toasting purple margaritas with Chancellor Boschini to watching the sun rise one last time over the beautiful TCU campus, the class of 2022 celebrated their accomplishments as Horned Frogs together.

Wake Me Up Before You Go

To mark their final day of classes on Wednesday, April 27, graduating seniors gathered bright and early to watch the sunrise from Amon G. Carter Stadium — no doubt the site of many victorious memories. The Senior Sunrise celebration included a food truck reception so students could grab breakfast before a big day ahead and the first of many lasts to come.

Peace, Music and Frogs

Later that afternoon, seniors attended FrogStock, a year-end celebration in the Campus Commons where all students can come together and relax before finals begin. Students established the annual event in 2008 as three hours of peace, music, arts and culture — mirroring Woodstock’s iconic three-day festival in 1969.

Foam Finale

The last day of classes ended with a foam party in the Campus Commons. Electronic duo 3OH!3 performed before foam blasted into the crowd for a memorable finale to the 2021-22 school year.

Purple Margaritas and Tex-Mex

The TCU Alumni Association hosted the Senior Toast on Wednesday, May 4, to mark the end of finals and welcome graduating seniors to the Horned Frog alumni family.

The celebratory event, which started more than two decades ago, included the much-anticipated rite of passage for seniors: enjoying a purple margarita toast with Chancellor Boschini. The Tex-Mex feast was followed with music, door prizes and a photo booth.

An Exciting Evening

Family and friends joined graduates on campus for the Commencement Reception on Friday, May 6. A number of special photo opportunities in the Campus Commons allowed proud supporters to snap their seniors in purple caps and gowns at the golden hour. Students and their loved ones ended the evening with another TCU tradition: celebratory fireworks.

Walking the Stage

As the culmination of the college experience, Spring 2022 Commencement was a joyous day for Horned Frogs, friends and family. A record class of more than 2,200 graduated on Saturday, May 7, across three ceremonies in the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena.
