Every August, scores of TCU faculty, staff, student and family volunteers help students get set up on their new adventure.
Horned Frogs hail from 50 states and 75 nations—and since about half of our undergrads live on campus, orchestrating the move to residence halls requires strategy, cooperation, patience and elbow grease. Oh, and a lot of things on wheels.
With a record number of first-year students, TCU has set a new record for move-ins in a single day: 2,187 moved in Saturday, Aug. 14, with the help of staff working 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
For moving days this semester, more than 80 full-time staff members are assisted by 135 student staffers and nearly 300 faculty/staff volunteers enlisted by Student Affairs.
Students bring an average of 1.8 cars each on moving day, so TCU Police and support staff from Athletics help with directing traffic.
150 moving bins are pressed into service to help move things along.
