TCU Celebrates the Investiture of President Daniel W. Pullin

The TCU Board of Trustees and Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. hosted the Investiture of President Daniel W. Pullin on Nov. 9, 2023. The Investiture formally conferred the responsibilities of the president, and served as an acknowledgement of the great responsibility of stewarding a timeless institution and a university legacy.

The event also commemorated the first year of Pullin's presidency. Pullin was first announced as the new president in December 2022, and began his presidential tenure in February 2023 during TCU's 150th anniversary.

The Attendees

Held in TCU's Van Cliburn Concert Hall, President Pullin's Investiture was attended by leaders from TCU, Fort Worth and Tarrant County, fellow Big 12 Conference universities, the families of both Pullin and Chancellor Boschini, and other invited guests.

The Investiture of TCU President Daniel W. Pullin took place in the Van Cliburn Concert Hall on TCU's campus.

A musical interlude of "I Dream A World," is performed by Andre J. Thomas and the TCU Concert Chorale.

The Details

The Mace and Flame of Knowledge was present at the Investiture, while a pewter pin depicting Frog Fountain and a Presidential Sash were introduced into TCU's lexicon of academic regalia.

The pewter pin features an image of TCU's beloved and iconic Frog Fountain. The four flutes represent classes, and the water flowing between symbolizes shared knowledge.

The Flame of Knowledge represents a university's dedication to learning and expanding knowledge. It is fashioned out of live oak and red oak, while the flame is made of cypress.

The University Mace is a symbol of the strength of the university. It is fashioned from a wooden beam from the first building constructed at AddRan Male and Female College in Thorp Springs, Texas.

The Investiture

President Pullin's Investiture Ceremony included words from Chancellor Boschini, TCU Board Chair Kit Tennison Moncrief, President Pullin and university governance leaders. President Pullin donned the traditional academic regalia, along with his iconic purple Converse.

The Reception

Attendees gathered for a reception following the Investiture of President Pullin, where they left messages of encouragement on origami frogs, marveled at a Frog Fountain ice sculpture and took selfies.
