Since 1993, Frog Camp has become one of TCU’s most memorable traditions, giving first-year students and transfers a fun way to connect with peers, upper-division students and faculty and staff while immersing themselves in school spirit and traditions.
There are different camp locations and formats, but every new student encounters a similar small group experience, facilitated by two upper-division students and a faculty/staff mentor.
Nightly dance parties have become a Frog Camp trademark.
Orientation gives new students the opportunity to learn the basics of academic life at TCU, register for classes and connect with campus mentors and resources. Students attend sessions of Frog Sense 101 to help prepare for the expectations of college life. And of course, there are dance parties.
Required for every incoming student, Orientation is a two-day, in-person experience on TCU’s campus. Students spend the night in a residence hall during the program, and may bring a family member or guest.
In the summer of 2021, 2,577 first-year students and 280 transfers attended on-campus Orientation. Two of the 14 sessions were created just for transfers; a virtual experience welcomed 213 students couldn’t make it to campus due to health concerns or travel restrictions.
This Texas-sized welcome creates a first-year experience that helps prepare our students for lifelong success and relationships.
